Bugatti In the Cornfields
You may not know much about them, but chances are you’ve seen their collection.
Meet Hapy Hipi and Miss Hipi. Easily two of the most enthusiastic collectors of exotics, hot rods, motorcycles, and all the antique Coca Cola signs you had ever seen as a child. Some of their collection you may have seen before online includes a McLaren P1 previously owned by Michael Fux, the first Bugatti Chiron in Canada, a Mansory Cullinan, and much more.
These two seriously have so many exotics to store that they needed to use several average size barns to store them. But these cars don’t just sit away in there to collect dust - ask anyone from around the Toronto area. Tim and Christine are known to frequent local car meets of all types, as well as the local car spotting hot spots such as Yorkville - the Canadian version of Rodeo Drive. For a city which is beginning to build a name for it’s diverse collection of exotic cars, Tim and Christine provide a great value to the car community here in the way they give back. Over the past couple years they have opened their property for a public viewing which helped raise thousands of dollars from a simple admission fee. They are also not afraid to drive their cars which allows other car enthusiasts many opportunities to take a close up look (just don’t touch).
Today we visited Tim and Christine as we took some behind the scenes photos as the crew from Restoration Garage took another look through the 3 barns full of exotics. As someone who has been 3 times to ‘Horsepower Haven’ as it is named, I still seem to lose track of the many cars kept around the property. I mean the property is so large that even to get around Mr. Hipi himself is sometimes getting around using a scooter!
Sometime after the filming had wrapped up, Tim suggested us shoot some photos by the corn fields, and so off we went! It’s not everyday that you see a Bugatti Chiron out in the open fields, but the Chiron handled the environment very well. As Tim drove it over the large field of grass I could hear the sensors just going off constantly, but then I looked over at Tim and saw that he was all pretty relaxed about it.
I guess if you’re a hippy, you have to know when to just have a bit of fun.
